What you need to know

If you’re a full-time or part-time Workmate who works 20 or more hours per week, you’re eligible for Workday benefits. Coverage begins on your date of hire or the date of your qualifying life event. And those other people sharing your roof and eating from your fridge? Well, they may be eligible, too.

Family

Spouses and partners and kids, oh my!

You may enroll your eligible dependents in Workday benefits coverage, including:

  • Your spouse (as defined by applicable state law)
  • Your same-sex or opposite-sex domestic partner who meets certain criteria
  • Your dependent children, up to age 26
  • Your dependent children age 26 or older with a physical or mental disability as defined by the Social Security Administration

For voluntary child life insurance coverage, your dependents may be enrolled up to their 26th birthday.

Definition of eligible children

  • Your or your domestic partner’s natural or adopted children
  • Your stepchildren whom you support and who live with you in a parent-child relationship
  • Children placed in your home for adoption
  • Any other children you support and are legal guardian for or those you are required to provide coverage for as the result of a qualified medical child support order

Domestic partner eligibility

If you’re enrolling a domestic partner in your Workday benefits, you must confirm that you’ve met all the eligibility requirements listed below for the past 12 months.

  • You have chosen to share one another’s lives in an intimate and committed relationship of mutual caring.
  • You maintain the same principal place of residence and intend to do so in the future.
  • You agree to be responsible for each other’s basic living expenses in the event that either of you is unable to provide such expenses.
  • You are both 18 or older.
  • Neither of you is married.
  • You are not related by blood to such a degree that you would be prevented from marrying in the state in which you reside.
  • Neither of you has maintained coverage for another domestic partner under any health plan within the last six months. (This excludes any domestic partner that has died within the last six months.)

You must notify Workday immediately if you no longer meet the criteria of domestic partnership.

You do not need to submit any supporting documentation to Workday when enrolling a domestic partner in coverage, but Workday reserves the right to request proof of eligibility in the event of an audit or other need.
